TriTec AV Introduces d&b XSL-Series at Jordan’s 80th Independence Day Celebrations

JORDAN: National celebrations demand more than scale and spectacle; they demand absolute precision. That challenge was placed firmly in the hands of Jordanian event technology specialist TriTec AV, which marked a significant milestone for the country’s live production industry by deploying the d&b audiotechnik XSL-Series for the first time in Jordan during the official celebrations commemorating the Kingdom’s 80th Independence Day.

Held within the grounds of Al Husseiniya Palace, the prestigious event combined live orchestral performances, choir presentations, video playback elements and a keynote address by His Majesty King Abdullah II. With both live audiences and broadcast requirements to satisfy, the production called for a sound reinforcement solution capable of delivering exceptional speech intelligibility, musical transparency, consistent coverage and robust gain-before-feedback performance.

To meet these requirements, TriTec AV deployed a left/right main PA configuration comprising 10 d&b XSL8 loudspeakers per side, supported by four flown XSL-SUBs positioned behind each main array. d&b XSL12 loudspeakers were utilised as front fills, ensuring consistent coverage across the front-row and centre audience areas.

The XSL-Series played a particularly critical role during the keynote address by His Majesty King Abdullah II, providing the vocal definition and intelligibility required for a ceremony of national significance while maintaining the refinement and power needed for the event’s musical programme.

One of the defining advantages of the deployment was the XSL-Series’ cardioid performance, which significantly reduced sound energy reaching the stage. With an orchestra, choir and multiple open microphones in operation, minimising unwanted sound spill was essential. The system helped maintain cleaner mixes, improved microphone stability and enhanced clarity across both spoken-word and musical content.

To further optimise performance, d&b ArrayProcessing was employed to deliver consistent sound distribution, tonal balance, high-frequency coverage and headroom throughout the audience area, ensuring a uniform listening experience across the venue.

Supporting the main system were d&b T-Series loudspeakers configured as side fills, while six d&b M2 stage monitors were deployed to provide monitoring for solo vocalists and centre-stage dancers. The entire system was powered by d&b D80 amplifiers, with signal transport and distribution handled via Dante. System design and operation were overseen by engineer Najib AlBakhit.

“This was a proud moment for TriTec AV and for the Jordanian production industry,” said Marwan R Abujaber, CEO & Owner at TriTec AV. “Introducing the d&b XSL-Series to Jordan at such an important national event allowed us to demonstrate the system’s power, clarity, and control in a truly meaningful setting. The cardioid performance made a major difference on stage, especially with the orchestra and choir, while the system delivered the speech intelligibility and musical quality required for an event of this importance.”

For d&b audiotechnik, the deployment also highlighted the continued growth of its regional partner network and the increasing adoption of advanced sound reinforcement technologies across the Middle East. “It’s great to see TriTec AV putting their new XSL system to such a prestigious first use. TriTec AV has been a valued partner of ours for many years: their passion for audio is as infectious as our own. We’re delighted to see them expand their inventory and we look forward to them delivering many more events such as this,” commented Brad Maiden, General Manager for d&b Middle East.
