Brompton Augments Tokyo’s Expansive LED Volume Install Knowledge Hub Latest News by Elton - October 28, 2026October 25, 2026 JAPAN: Brompton Technology is powering the LED volume at Crescent, Inc.’s Digi-Cast HANEDA STUDIO in Tokyo, Japan. Designed as an integrated digital production facility, the studio combines a large-scale LED environment with Crescent’s motion capture, volumetric video and photogrammetry technologies, supporting workflows from pre-visualisation and asset creation through to final production. The main LED wall measures 41.5m wide by 10m high, complemented by two movable 6m × 6m side walls and an LED ceiling measuring approximately 23.5m × 15m. Divided into nine independently height-adjustable sections, the ceiling can be configured to accommodate different production requirements. The main wall uses next-generation LED panels developed by AUO, with a 1.95mm pixel pitch and 2,000-nit brightness. AUO P3.9 panels are deployed on the side walls, while the ceiling uses AUO P5.2 panels. The LED environment is driven by 27 Brompton 4K Tessera SX40 LED processors and 57 Tessera XD 10G data distribution units, providing the processing and data distribution infrastructure for the extensive, configurable display system. “When we were designing Digi-Cast HANEDA STUDIO, we needed an LED processing platform with a proven track record and the flexibility to adapt to the way we want to work,” explains Kota Kikuya, Technical Director at Crescent, Inc. “Brompton’s Tessera platform is well established across the industry, but equally important for us is its API-based control, which allows us to build workflows around our own production needs. The colour-management options, including LiveGrade integration and 3D LUT application, give our team the flexibility required across a wide range of productions.” The LED stage forms part of Crescent’s wider ‘Link-All’ philosophy, which brings its imaging technologies together within a single production environment. Alongside virtual production, the facility offers motion capture, volumetric video and photogrammetry, with the different studio spaces designed to work together in real time. The intended workflow extends beyond the shoot itself, encompassing pre-visualisation and technical visualisation (previs and techvis), scene and asset creation, and final production. The wider development comprises separate LED Stage and Production buildings, reflecting Crescent’s aim to establish a comprehensive digital production environment rather than a standalone virtual production stage. Plans for the facility also included dedicated spaces for volumetric video, photogrammetry and motion capture, alongside audio recording and pre-visualisation facilities. Digi-Cast HANEDA STUDIO opened in October 2025 and entered full-scale operation at the beginning of 2026. Upcoming television drama series and streaming video projects are among the productions planned for the facility. “With one of the world’s largest LED volumes at its heart, Digi-Cast HANEDA STUDIO is a hugely impressive facility, both in its scale and in the flexibility it offers production teams,” concludes Elijah Ebo, Director of APAC Operations at Brompton Technology. “We’re delighted that Crescent has chosen Tessera SX40 and Tessera XD for such an ambitious project, and it is particularly exciting to see the team using Tessera’s API control and advanced colour-management capabilities to tailor the system around its own production requirements.” Share on Facebook Share Share on TwitterTweet Share on Pinterest Share Share on LinkedIn Share Share on Digg Share
