Christie Lights Up An Immersive Water Spectacle Celebrating the Legacy of Poet Lu You Knowledge Hub Latest Live by Elton - June 10, 2026June 8, 2026 CHINA: Projection technology is playing a central role in bringing one of China’s most celebrated literary figures to life through a new large-scale immersive attraction in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province. Marking the 900th birth anniversary of renowned Southern Song Dynasty poet Lu You, the newly launched production, The Wonders of Lu You, utilises a comprehensive deployment of Christie laser projection solutions to transform the Lu You Hometown Scenic Area into an expansive storytelling canvas of light, water and performance. Officially opening to the public on February 17 to coincide with the first day of the Lunar New Year, the attraction guides visitors through a carefully curated cultural journey spanning the Lu You Museum, a large-scale water stage and the poet’s former residence. As darkness falls, projection, live performance and water effects combine to create an immersive narrative experience celebrating Lu You’s patriotic ideals, literary achievements and enduring cultural influence. To realise the project, Christie’s authorised distributor, Shanghai Qingying Digital Technology, provided comprehensive support covering spatial surveys, system design, equipment selection and multi-projector installations across the various performance zones and building façades. The objective was to create a continuous visual narrative that accompanies visitors throughout the entire experience, linking key locations associated with the poet, who produced more than 9,300 poems during his lifetime. Deployed at the main water stage, the projectors are used to recreate dramatic battle sequences and intricate Song Dynasty architectural scenes, delivering high levels of detail, colour accuracy and visual impact across the expansive projection surfaces. Supporting the main stage are more than a dozen Christie DWU23-HS and DWU15-HS laser projectors installed throughout distributed performance areas across the scenic site. The compact laser phosphor projectors were selected for corridor-based interactive projections and the recreation of scenes from Lu You’s former residence, helping to immerse visitors in historically inspired environments while maintaining installation flexibility. The large-scale cultural tourism performance seamlessly integrates classical Chinese culture with Christie’s advanced projection technology to deliver a stunning visual experience To support the operational demands of the attraction, Shanghai Qingying Digital Technology also implemented Christie Conductor monitoring and control software for the Griffyn 4K50-RGB and M 4K+25 RGB projectors. The platform enables centralised monitoring and management, helping ensure reliable 24/7 operation in a venue designed to accommodate significant visitor traffic. “‘The Wonders of Lu You’ demonstrates how projection technology can elevate cultural storytelling to an entirely new level,” said Gene Wang, Senior Director of ProAV Sales for China, Christie. “From high-brightness RGB pure laser projection on expansive water stages to flexible installations in intimate interactive spaces using the HS Series, this project showcases the versatility and reliability of Christie solutions in demanding outdoor environments.” By combining large-format projection, immersive storytelling and cultural heritage preservation, The Wonders of Lu You highlights the growing role of projection technology in enhancing tourism and visitor attractions. The project demonstrates how modern visual technologies can create emotionally engaging experiences that connect contemporary audiences with historical narratives, while transforming heritage sites into dynamic destinations for cultural exploration.
