AlphaTheta India Inspires Next-Gen Talent with DJ Workshop at Ek Tara Learning Centre

INDIA: AlphaTheta India has reinforced its commitment to nurturing emerging talent with a hands-on DJ workshop at the Ek Tara Learning Centre in Kolkata, delivering an empowering and immersive experience centred around creativity, confidence, and technical skill development.

Led by AlphaTheta India influencer DJ Bahaar, the session introduced over 35 students —predominantly girls — to the fundamentals and possibilities of DJing, while promoting the inclusive message of “AnyBodyCanDJ.” The workshop combined practical demonstrations with personal insights, as DJ Bahaar shared her journey in an industry often perceived as male-dominated, encouraging participants to approach the craft with confidence and determination.

Focusing on both technical and personal development, the session highlighted essential qualities such as self-discipline, organisational skills, and resilience as critical foundations for success in DJing and beyond. Using the XDJ RX3 system — the same platform on which the students train — DJ Bahaar demonstrated key techniques, including beat matching, offering accessible, real-world insights that participants could immediately apply.

The interactive format saw students actively engage with the equipment, gaining hands-on experience in a supportive and energetic environment. The enthusiasm within the room was evident, with the session extending beyond its scheduled duration as participants immersed themselves in the creative process.

“It was a delight for me to interact with the girls in Ek Tara Learning Centre. Besides being absolutely receptive to the skills that I was sharing, they were inquisitive and eager. That and the warmth that they extended to me is something that I will forever preserve in my heart”, said DJ Bahaar.

Highlighting the broader impact of such initiatives, Namrata Sureka, co-founder Ek Tara, added, “This was a fantastic initiative by AlphaTheta India. The faculty and staff at Ek Tara strive to ensure that the children in our learning center get the best exposures and this workshop added to our endeavours”.

“I am delighted that the girls thoroughly enjoyed their learning and interaction with DJ Bahaar and I am sure that they will remember this workshop for a long time”, added Vinita Saraf, co-founder Ek Tara.

The workshop also aligns with the broader vision of the Tomorrowland Foundation Music & Arts School by Ek Tara—India’s only such institution and the third globally—focused on delivering world-class music and arts education to children from underserved communities. The initiative continues to bridge access to global creative opportunities, with international artists such as Martin Garrix, Alan Walker, and Armin van Buuren having previously engaged with students through performances and workshops.

Commenting on the collaboration, Devasis Barkataki, Managing Director, Alphatec Audio Video Private Limited, which represents AlphaTheta in India, said, “Initiatives such as these bring in a sense of fulfillment. While we conduct scores of workshops across India on the ArtofDJing, till now, these have primarily focused on professional and aspirational DJs. Associating with Ek Tara recently presented us this opportunity to engage with their students and faculty in a meaningful manner. I am happy that we were able to add to the foundation’s endeavours and we remain steadfast in our continued support to inculcating the ArtofDJing- a skill that shapes numerous good qualities amongst practitioners”.
