Equipson Group Acquires Historic Loudspeaker Manufacturer MUSICSON

GLOBAL: The Equipson Group has announced the acquisition of MUSICSON – Spain’s oldest manufacturer of loudspeakers and professional audio solutions, in a move that reinforces its long-term commitment to high-quality, Spain-made professional audio manufacturing. Founded in 1965, MUSICSON is widely recognised for its large-format loudspeaker enclosures and for being the only brand globally to employ wooden waveguides, a distinctive design approach that delivers a warm and natural sonic character.

Unlike many manufacturers in the sector, MUSICSON designs and manufactures its own loudspeakers and compression drivers, maintaining full control over its most critical components. This vertically integrated approach has been central to the brand’s reputation for quality and consistency, positioning its products above prevailing market standards. The acquisition enables Equipson to further expand its development of large-format loudspeaker enclosures by leveraging MUSICSON’s extensive legacy, manufacturing expertise, and in-house R&D capabilities, while reaffirming its commitment to producing professional audio solutions entirely in Spain.

Juan Jose Vila (CEO of the Equipson Group), shared his thoughts, stating, “This acquisition fits perfectly with Equipson’s long-term plan to invest in the people, infrastructure and technology needed to create effective and high-quality solutions for the professional audio market.” He adds that he is particularly delighted with the acquisition because it highlights the personal affection he feels for MUSICSON. “Prior to setting up Equipson, my father, José Luis Vila, was MUSICSON’s sales manager for more than 30 years” he says. “As family-owned companies, both are renowned for their high levels of customer service and are committed to providing comprehensive and immediate support.”

Based in Valencia, MUSICSON was established by Joaquin Benavent Pérez with the objective of developing the highest-quality professional sound equipment. The company operates with in-house Engineering, Woodworking, and Electronics departments, and as part of the acquisition, all existing employees will relocate to new facilities adjacent to Equipson’s headquarters. Additional staff will also be recruited to support increased production and manufacturing capacity. MUSICSON’s product portfolio spans a wide range of applications, including concert halls, live touring, festivals, auditoria, theatres, clubs, bars, and restaurants.

Continuity of the brand’s design philosophy remains a key focus, with Joaquin Benavent Diaz, son of the founder and until now CEO and a central figure in acoustic design and R&D, continuing his association with MUSICSON. His ongoing involvement is intended to ensure that the brand’s identity and acoustic philosophy remain integral to future product development.

Following the acquisition, a new brand identity for MUSICSON has already been created, with the launch of a new website to follow, signalling the next phase in the evolution of one of Spain’s most storied professional audio manufacturers.
