HK Audio has expanded its POLAR MK2 column speaker lineup with the launch of the new POLAR 8 MK2, introducing the most compact model in the series while maintaining the brand’s focus on portability, intelligent DSP integration and professional-grade sound performance.

Designed for small stages, rehearsal spaces, conferences, weddings, corporate events and mobile sound applications, the all-in-one system combines compact dimensions with a feature set aimed at delivering flexible, high-quality reinforcement in a wide variety of environments. In addition to the standard finish, HK Audio is also offering the POLAR 8 MK2 in a white version for applications where visual integration and event aesthetics are particularly important.

At the core of the system is HK Audio’s Curved Column technology, which utilises six 2.5-inch neodymium midrange drivers arranged in a specially developed curved configuration. The design delivers horizontal dispersion of 120° alongside 45° vertical coverage, helping maintain even sound distribution and speech intelligibility across acoustically difficult spaces and audiences positioned at varying distances and angles.

Low-frequency reproduction is handled by an integrated 8-inch subwoofer housed within a metal-reinforced, low-resonance plastic enclosure designed to minimise unwanted cabinet vibrations while delivering controlled and defined bass response suitable for both music playback and spoken-word applications.

Powering the system is an integrated 1,200-watt Class D amplifier engineered to provide high output capability while maintaining low weight and energy-efficient operation. HK Audio states that the amplifier architecture allows the POLAR 8 MK2 to maintain balanced, distortion-free performance even at elevated output levels.

A notable addition to the MK2 platform is the new continuously adjustable Contour control system, allowing users to blend seamlessly between DJ, Music and Voice voicing profiles rather than relying solely on fixed presets. The approach enables more precise tailoring of the system response depending on application requirements and user preference.

Signal processing is handled through integrated 24-bit DSP technology combined with a multiband limiter designed to intervene only within critical frequency ranges. According to HK Audio, this allows the system to preserve overall tonal balance and natural sound character while preventing audible distortion or pumping effects at high output levels.

The POLAR 8 MK2 additionally incorporates an integrated three-channel mixer featuring two mic/line inputs alongside an aux/Bluetooth channel, enabling direct connection of microphones, instruments, DJ systems and external audio sources without the need for an external mixing console in many use cases.

Wireless functionality is supported via Bluetooth 5 streaming, while True Wireless Stereo (TWS) capability enables two POLAR 8 MK2 systems to be paired wirelessly for stereo operation without additional cabling.

Targeting mobile users, the system package also includes a dedicated carry bag for the column elements and a transport cover for the subwoofer, reinforcing the POLAR 8 MK2’s positioning as a compact, transport-friendly professional sound reinforcement solution.
