L-Acoustics K1 Powers Valley Beach Club – Northern Vietnam’s Premier Beachside Nightclub Destination

Valley Beach Club, northern Vietnam’s leading outdoor entertainment venue, has completed a major audio upgrade with the installation of an L-Acoustics K1 sound system. Located on a 4,800-square-metre beachfront site overlooking Ha Long Bay, the 5,000-capacity club has quickly built a reputation as one of Asia’s top EDM destinations, hosting international DJs and artists from the DJ Mag Top 100.

The club’s relationship with L-Acoustics began in 2019 with a K2 system at its previous site, before relocating to its current beachside location in 2024. The larger space required an enhanced solution featuring additional K2, K1-SB and KS28 components. Later that year, a powerful typhoon caused significant damage to several K2 enclosures, prompting the venue to pursue a complete upgrade to L-Acoustics’ flagship system.

“The restoration process following the typhoon provided Valley Beach Club with a unique opportunity to elevate their audio capabilities to match their vision,” says Mr Thang from PRO-AVL Vietnam, L-Acoustics Certified Distributor. “The venue’s ownership specifically requested a K1 system design, recognising that L-Acoustics’ flagship line array speakers are synonymous with world-class EDM programming.”

The installation, completed in November 2024, was designed by L-Acoustics APAC Senior Application Engineer, Chung Wah Khiew, in close collaboration with PRO-AVL Vietnam. The coastal setting posed unique challenges, with dense entertainment activity in the surrounding district and exposure to salt air and weather extremes. “Designing an optimal system for Valley Beach Club required careful consideration of both the unique coastal environment and the venue’s ambitious programming requirements,” Mr Thang explains. “The K1’s superior power and precision capabilities ensure consistent, impactful sound coverage across the entire venue while minimising spillage to surrounding properties.”

The final system features left/right hangs of 4 units of the K1-SB subwoofers and 12 units of the K1 line array elements per side, with 2 units of the K2 enclosures on each flank for extended coverage. 6 ground stacks of 4 units of the KS28 subs each are deployed at the front of the stage, while front-fill coverage is provided through carefully positioned A10 loudspeakers: two sets of A10 Wide enclosures atop the outer subwoofer stacks and two sets of dual A10 Focus units on the middle stacks. Alongside, performing DJs benefit from dedicated monitoring through a pair of A15 enclosures mounted on KS21 subwoofers, providing clear, powerful monitoring that cuts through the main system’s massive output. Power and processing are handled by 24 units of the LA12X amplified controllers operating on a Milan-AVB network protocol with redundant audio networking.

“Managing an installation of this scale while keeping the venue operational requires meticulous planning and flawless execution. The L-Acoustics ecosystem’s reliability and our team’s experience made it possible to deliver exceptional results on schedule” informs Mr Thang as he reveals the collaborative expertise of L-Acoustics APAC and PRO-AVL Vietnam teams enabled precise coordination throughout the complex installation process, ensuring the venue maintained its programming commitments during the upgrade.

The impact of the upgrade has been immediate. International artists have praised the system’s festival-grade output, while Vietnamese musician, composer and producer Bui Huy Tuan, who connected PRO-AVL Vietnam with Valley Beach Club, describes the experience as transformative. “Having experienced K1 at large-scale concerts featuring artists like Adele, BlackPink, and Bruno Mars, I was overwhelmed by the experience with K1 at Valley Beach Club,” he says. “The sophistication in each frequency range creates something magical—for the first time in a club environment, I could hear bass melodies with perfect clarity. The frequency separation at different listening angles creates a complete, clear experience that brings entirely different emotions to the club space.”

With its new K1 system in place, Valley Beach Club has reinforced its status as one of Asia’s most ambitious EDM venues, equipped with a scalable, future-ready infrastructure designed to meet evolving production demands.
