USA: D.A.S. Audio Keeps the Crowds Energized at Hollywood Beach Bandshell

Spain-based D.A.S. Audio was selected to upgrade the sound reinforcement capabilities at the legendary Hollywood Beach Bandshell. After careful consideration and evaluation, the purchased equipment was drawn from the Event Series catalog of D.A.S. Audio.

Ricardo Cintron-Jimenez, the Professional Accounts Manager for Guitar Center Professional of South Florida, who oversees sales of audio, video, and lighting solutions for the House of Worship, AV installation, and professional recording markets throughout the area, handled the sale of the D.A.S. equipment through Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort. This transaction included six D.A.S. Audio Event 208A 3-way, active line array elements and two D.A.S. Event 218A powered sub bass enclosures. Cintron-Jimenez discussed the project.

“There is an outdoor, beachfront stage that is located right on the Hollywood Beach Boardwalk,” Cintron-Jimenez explained. “The resort works very closely with the city to manage the iconic Hollywood Beach Bandshell. On Wednesday – Sunday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. there are live music performances that encompass a wide range of musical styles. These performances are open to both resort guests and the public and they attract a good size crowd. As an example, more than 1,000 people gather every Friday to dance and enjoy the music, for free!”

“Ron Green, Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort’s Director of Entertainment, wanted to upgrade the sound system capabilities. As an outside venue, Ron wasn’t certain what type of loudspeakers would best handle the job, so he reached out to me. Being that an indoor demonstration is a lot different than the beachfront stage area at the resort, I coordinated a live demo onsite at the beach so we could clearly evaluate dispersion, clarity, speech intelligibility, ease of setup, and overall sound quality of the Event Series loudspeakers. The demo proved to be the best way to evaluate the equipment and, in this case, the Event Series loudspeakers clearly showed that their quality of sound reproduction and coverage were ideal. Combined with their rugged build quality, scalability, and overall versatility, these loudspeakers proved to be a great choice for this particular bandshell venue,” Cintron-Jimenez added.

As an outdoor venue, the new D.A.S. loudspeakers are moved on and off the stage each day. With this in mind, the setup includes covers for the loudspeakers to help protect them as they are moved, along with stacking brackets. Once the equipment is moved onto the stage, the setup provides for three ground-stacked D.A.S. Event 208A loudspeakers each for the left and right sides—accompanied by one Event 218A subwoofer for each side.

For Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort, quality customer service and technical support were important considerations as part of this transaction. Here too, D.A.S. Audio’s customer and technical support teams proved integral to the resort’s overall purchase decision. “D.A.S. Audio provides solid support, training, and customer Service,” Cintron-Jimenez reports. “The D.A.S. team always delivers—with brilliance. When we decided to conduct a live demonstration at the resort, both D.A.S. Miami’s General Manager Jaime Villegas and US Accounts Manager Carlos Henao were 120% supportive. The demo was very successful and helped immensely with the negotiation.”

Reflecting on the transaction, which was completed in March 2017, Cintron-Jimenez offered these final thoughts, “This venue has become one of the prime ‘go-to’ places in the Hollywood Beach scene. It’s a very special venue that is changing the vibe of Hollywood Beach. The new D.A.S. sound system is crisp, with great fidelity and overall quality. Everyone in the community is talking about the system and local bands love performing here. Together, D.A.S. Audio, Guitar Center, and Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort are bringing quality music to enrich the lives of all who spend time there.”
