Barco Turns Tokyo Ballroom into a 360° Canvas Install Knowledge Hub Latest News by Elton - September 16, 2026September 12, 2026 JAPAN: Mandarin Oriental Tokyo has transformed its ballroom into a 360-degree projection environment using twelve Barco G62-W14 projectors, creating a flexible visual canvas for weddings, corporate events and other productions. The project, developed in partnership with Vega Project K.K. (Vega Japan), addresses two very different demands within the same space. Weddings require atmospheric and emotionally engaging environments, while corporate events call for clarity, flexibility and visual impact. The resulting installation allows the ballroom to shift between these requirements without altering its underlying environment. The twelve G62-W14 projectors have been installed to deliver seamless 360-degree projection, surrounding guests with visuals and turning the room itself into a storytelling canvas. The compact and lightweight design of the G62 platform was particularly suited to the luxury venue, where projection hardware needed to integrate discreetly without compromising sightlines or the ballroom’s aesthetic. The system has already been deployed for events including wedding fairs and corporate functions, with projection forming a central part of the visual environment. Rather than relying on a fixed room presentation, the ballroom can now be visually reconfigured around different event concepts. “This project shows how projection can fundamentally reshape a venue. Instead of designing around a fixed room, Mandarin Oriental Tokyo now has a space that can evolve visually for every occasion. With the G62 platform, we’ve combined visual impact with the consistency and ease of ownership that venues need to deliver flawless events day after day. This installation allows the venue to adapt instantly, without compromising on quality,” says Nakamura, Seiichi, Barco Territory Sales Manager. For Vega Project K.K., the challenge was balancing the creative ambitions of weddings with the demands of business events while maintaining a reliable technical foundation. “One of the biggest opportunities was creating a space that works equally well for emotional, once-in-a-lifetime celebrations and high-impact business events. Bringing this vision to life required a close collaboration between creative design and reliable technology. With Barco as a partner, we could focus on the experience, knowing the technical foundation would support it seamlessly,” concludes Richard Johns, Managing Director at Vega Project K.K.
