MU Bali Goes ‘Without Boundaries’ with Crest Audio and Peavey

INDONESIA: MU Bali has brought a new high-impact club experience to Seminyak, Indonesia, with a Crest Audio and Peavey sound system delivering the sonic foundation for the latest venue from the Asian nightlife brand.

Originating in Seoul and subsequently expanding to Bangkok, MU has built its identity around the convergence of music, technology and design. Its name, inspired by a Korean expression meaning “without boundaries”, reflects a venue concept designed to blur the lines between cultures, musical genres and immersive visual experiences.

The audio brief was equally ambitious: deliver the high SPL and visceral low-frequency impact expected from an international nightclub while retaining the clarity, control and musicality required for touring DJs and live performers.

V-Series International Sdn Bhd, Crest Audio’s distributor in Malaysia and primary system integrator for the project, selected a combination of Crest Audio and Peavey technologies to provide consistent coverage across the venue.

At the core of the main system are Crest Audio Versarray 112 MK III line arrays, providing controlled dispersion and high-output coverage across the main dance floor. Crest Audio Versarray Pro 215 and Versarray 218 Sub MK III subwoofers provide the low-frequency impact central to the MU experience.

“For MU Bali, the project required extremely high dB levels while maintaining exceptional clarity and clean output,” said Stone Foo, Managing Director of V-Series International Sdn Bhd. “The Crest Audio Versarray and Peavey CPL+ series provided the perfect solution. We are very satisfied with the final result and look forward to many more successful installations in the future.”

The system extends beyond the main dance floor, with additional zones designed to maintain a consistent sonic identity as guests move through the venue. Peavey CPL 118B+ subwoofers provide additional low-frequency reinforcement, while CPL 10+ loudspeakers extend coverage into supplementary listening areas. Compact Peavey Impulse 8C loudspeakers are positioned throughout VIP seating, circulation areas and other spaces requiring discreet installation.

Control and mixing are handled by a Peavey Aureus 28 digital mixing console, providing the processing and workflow flexibility required for DJs, live performances and special events. Crest Audio PCX 88 DSP provides loudspeaker management, system tuning and signal routing across the installation. Amplification comes from Peavey IPR2 7500 and IPR2 5000 amplifiers alongside Crest Audio Pro-Lite 5.0 and Pro-Lite 3.0 models, providing the output and dynamic headroom required for nightly operation.

For V-Series International, the breadth of the Crest Audio portfolio was also a key consideration in its decision to represent the brand in Malaysia. “We chose to represent Crest because of its exceptional performance-to-value ratio,” said Foo. “The quality and versatility of the Crest Audio product lineup enable us to deliver professional installations across corporate, hospitality, nightlife and major commercial infrastructure projects, including resorts and theme parks. The integration of Dante, AES67 and high-performance analogue solutions throughout the product range also gives us the flexibility to design the most appropriate and efficient systems for our clients.”

That versatility was particularly relevant at MU Bali, where the venue’s architecture and differing acoustic requirements called for a carefully zoned approach. “We are truly excited to see Crest Audio chosen for yet another prestigious venue. MU means ‘without boundaries’, a philosophy that aligns perfectly with Crest Audio as we continue showcasing our capabilities around the world,” commented Akshay Vaidya, Director of Asia Pacific at Peavey Electronics. “The venue presented several exciting acoustic and installation challenges due to its unique layout. However, the versatility of the Crest Audio product lineup, combined with the expertise of V-Series International, enabled us to exceed expectations and deliver an outstanding result.”

The completed system is designed to let the audio adapt to the venue rather than dominate it, from the visceral impact required on the main dance floor to the more controlled sound expected in VIP and circulation areas.

“Opening night was a tremendous success, providing guests with a truly exceptional audio-visual experience,” concluded Vaidya. “We are grateful to MU and V-Series International for selecting Crest Audio and Peavey as the audio solution for this landmark project.”
