AUSTRALIA: Designed to support northern Adelaide’s expanding business, education and technology sectors, Crowne Plaza Adelaide Mawson Lakes has opened with a comprehensive integrated audio system centred on JBL Professional loudspeakers and Crown amplifiers, enabling the hotel to seamlessly support both day-to-day hospitality operations and a diverse range of conferencing and event requirements.

Developed by The Pelligra Group in partnership with ONE7 and IHG Hotels & Resorts, the premium full-service hotel features four dedicated conference and event spaces covering a combined 442 square metres, alongside restaurants, bars, public gathering areas, recreational facilities and a striking 14-metre-high atrium.

A key objective of the project was to provide conference and function spaces capable of operating independently without relying on extensive external AV support. The system was designed to enable hotel staff and guests to host meetings, presentations and corporate events using integrated audiovisual infrastructure while keeping day-to-day operation straightforward. Equally important was the requirement for a venue-wide background music system capable of delivering tailored audio experiences across the property’s diverse hospitality spaces.

To meet these requirements, integration specialist Corporate Initiatives designed and deployed a distributed audio solution built around JBL Professional loudspeakers powered by Crown amplifiers. The installation provides comprehensive coverage throughout the reception, lobby, restaurants, bars, conference facilities, atrium, balcony areas, gymnasium, elevators and other public amenities.

The system incorporates 14 JBL Control 16 ceiling loudspeakers serving reception, lobby and amenities areas, alongside 25 JBL Control 18C/T ceiling loudspeakers covering the ballroom spaces, gymnasium and other high-traffic zones. Three JBL Control 24CT loudspeakers provide audio coverage within the elevators, while 20 JBL Control 65 pendant loudspeakers have been installed throughout the bar, restaurant and reception spaces. A further 20 JBL SLP14 surface-mount loudspeakers deliver coverage across the balcony areas and the hotel’s expansive 14-metre-high atrium, complemented by four JBL 8128 in-ceiling loudspeakers supporting selected gymnasium and reception locations. The entire installation is powered by Crown amplifiers, providing centralised system control, dependable operation and scalable multi-zone management.

The integrated design allows each conference and function space to operate independently, with sound reinforcement already in place for typical meeting and presentation requirements. As a result, guests can host events without the need to bring in external AV equipment for standard applications.

To enhance operational flexibility, the system has been configured with dedicated audio zones, customised voicing profiles and independent volume control for each area of the property. This enables background music to be tailored to the ambience of individual spaces, allowing restaurants, bars, conference rooms and public areas to maintain distinct acoustic environments while remaining simple for non-technical hotel staff to manage.

With more than 80 JBL Professional loudspeakers deployed throughout the venue, the installation provides Crowne Plaza Adelaide Mawson Lakes with a scalable, venue-wide audio platform that supports both hospitality and conferencing from a single integrated system. The zoned architecture not only simplifies event management but also allows staff to independently manage audio across multiple areas, delivering a consistent guest experience while accommodating the varied operational demands of a modern premium hotel.
