Ayrton Unveils Nando 1202 Hybrid Fixture

Ayrton has expanded its Nando series with the launch of Nando 1202, a new IP65-rated hybrid fixture designed to combine high-output beam and wash capabilities with advanced colour reproduction, lightweight construction and extensive creative flexibility for live production, broadcast and outdoor applications.

Positioned as a larger companion to the Nando 502, the Nando 1202 adopts Ayrton’s minimalist design approach while delivering a substantial 25,000-lumen output through 28 high-performance 50W RGB-L LEDs. The fixture features a fast linear zoom system with a beam aperture ranging from 3.5° to 53°, enabling rapid transitions between tight beam effects and wide wash coverage.

A key element of the fixture’s colour engine is the addition of a Lime LED source, designed to improve colour integration, increase output efficiency and enhance colour repeatability, while achieving a CRI above 86. Ayrton states that the system delivers flicker-free performance, making the fixture particularly suitable for television and filmed production environments.

At the core of the Nando 1202 is a newly developed optical system built around a single-piece 303mm PMMA cluster paired with 28 precision-machined glass light guides featuring micro-structured output surfaces. According to Ayrton, this configuration significantly improves luminous flux while maintaining controlled diffusion and high contrast performance. Additional visual refinement is achieved through a black honeycomb structure separating individual light sources, alongside an anti-reflective treated front glass window.

For stage and live event applications, the fixture’s four-colour additive mixing system is designed to produce both subtle pastel tones and deeply saturated colours with consistent blending and no visible colour shadows. The onboard colour system includes a library containing hundreds of preset colours, alongside direct RGBL control, calibrated RGB operation with automatic Lime insertion, virtual CTC adjustment from 2500K to 8000K, and dedicated tint control for +/- green correction to optimise on-camera reproduction.

Nando 1202 also places strong emphasis on effects generation and creative flexibility. Individual LED control enables both 3D volumetric effects and 2D graphical looks, supported by an integrated library of built-in pattern effects with adjustable speed and fade parameters.

The fixture’s hybrid architecture combines a 15:1 zoom ratio with extensive movement capability, offering 540° pan and 255° tilt operation designed to support precise positioning across large-scale stage and event environments.

Despite its extensive feature set, Ayrton says the Nando 1202 has undergone significant weight optimisation through redesigned aluminium components, simplified lens guidance, optimised cooling systems and low-density optical materials. The result is a fixture weighing 27.6 kg while still maintaining full accessibility to internal functions and service points.

With its combination of IP65 protection, high-output RGBL performance, advanced optics and versatile hybrid functionality, Ayrton is positioning the Nando 1202 as a multi-purpose fixture capable of addressing the increasingly demanding requirements of modern touring, broadcast and outdoor production environments.
