DiGiCo Announces v22 Software Update

DiGiCo has introduced its latest software release, Version 22, bringing a comprehensive suite of new features, integrations, and workflow enhancements to its SD and Quantum console platforms. Available as a free download via the Info and Downloads section under the Support tab within the DiGiCo website, the update reflects the manufacturer’s continued focus on evolving performance, flexibility, and user experience in live sound environments.

At the core of V22 is the ongoing expansion of the Mustard processing suite, available across all Quantum desks. Building on the introduction of the Mustard Source Expander in V20, the new release debuts the Mustard Levelling Amp, the Silver One—modelled on a classic tube-design, electro-optical compressor. Designed to impart warmth and thickness while preserving dynamic integrity, it is particularly suited to sources such as vocals and bass.

Snapshot functionality also sees significant refinement. The Snapshots panel has been updated with Touch and Move reordering, while the Snapshots Overview panel now mirrors the view options of the main panel, ensuring consistency between the Master and Overview screens. A major addition comes in the form of Setlists, now integrated directly into the Snapshots panel. This long-requested feature enables engineers to build customised show structures from a library of snapshots, allowing for flexible sequencing and rapid adaptation to varying set durations—particularly relevant in festival scenarios where performance lengths frequently change.

With timecode playing an increasingly central role in production workflows, V22 introduces enhancements to the Recall Times panel. Snapshots can now update their recall times directly from timecode via the Update Recall Times function, while new timecode offset adjustments allow engineers to modify timing across multiple snapshots simultaneously, streamlining show revisions during production development.

Routing flexibility, a hallmark of DiGiCo systems, has also been extended. Groups can now be included within Aux to Fader mode, offering additional control when managing complex mixes. When enabled, Control Group faders provide the same +/-18dB adjustment as input channels within Aux to Fader mode, further enhancing operational precision.

The Macro panel has been expanded with improved usability and functionality. Users can now reorder Macros for better navigation, while enhanced search capabilities filter command types based on search terms. New commands introduced in V22 include Switch to Bank, enabling direct access to specific fader banks, and Set Security Mode, allowing immediate switching between Live and Unattended modes. Additional search functionality has also been introduced for the Macroder and Channel Macros panels on Quantum 112 and Quantum852 consoles, alongside new visual indicators when Surface Offline mode is activated.

Integration capabilities are a key focus of the V22 update. The software deepens connectivity between Quantum consoles and the Sound Devices Astral wireless microphone range, allowing RF channels to be assigned within Audio I/O and monitored directly from the console interface. Key telemetry—including Battery level, RF Quality level, NexLink signal strength, On/Off Status, and Mute Status—is displayed at the channel level, enhancing real-time system awareness.

V22 also introduces a new level of integration with Harrison’s LiveTrax 3 software, creating a unified recording and virtual soundcheck environment. Channel names can be synchronised between console sessions and LiveTrax projects, while transport controls such as record and playback are now accessible directly from the console. Snapshot triggers can automatically generate corresponding sections within LiveTrax, and during playback, firing a snapshot aligns the playhead to the relevant section—streamlining both recording and rehearsal workflows.

A series of smaller yet impactful improvements further refine the user experience. These include the ability to collect diagnostic files directly from the console, enhanced data transfer when copying Aux levels between stereo Auxes, and updated behaviour when interfacing with KLANG systems. Additionally, Mustard Dynamics Gain Reduction and Gate status are now visible within Channel overviews, providing clearer insight into processing activity.

“Our customers know that when they purchase a DiGiCo console, that’s only the beginning of the relationship, as our R&D team is committed to continually bringing fresh features and increased performance to users’ products,” says DiGiCo Managing Director Austin Freshwater. “The new Version 22 software update is a perfect example, breathing increased life into older and newer DiGiCo desks alike, keeping them at the very top of their game for the long haul.”

With Version 22, DiGiCo continues to reinforce its commitment to long-term platform evolution, delivering meaningful enhancements that extend the creative and operational capabilities of its consoles across an increasingly demanding live production landscape.
