SINGAPORE: The St. Regis Singapore has unveiled a sweeping renovation of its landmark property, including the John Jacob Ballroom and the St. Regis Bar, marking the luxury hotel’s first major upgrade since opening in 2008. Central to this multi-phased transformation is the installation of state-of-the-art L-Acoustics audio systems, designed and delivered by Concept Systems Technologies to meet the heightened technical expectations of today’s premium event and hospitality environments.

The newly reimagined John Jacob Ballroom now presents a 710-square-metre pillarless space with seven-metre ceilings, drawing inspiration from 19th-century European orangeries. Natural daylight pours through two skylights by day, while reflective elements evoke a starlit garden by night. The ballroom can seat 600 guests theatre-style, host 420 for a banquet, or divide seamlessly into two equal venues. Its evolving room configurations, coupled with the integration of two nine-metre LED video walls and intelligent lighting, demanded exceptional acoustic flexibility and consistency.

“The Ballroom’s multiple configurations and ability to split into two separate venues requires exceptional flexibility,” says John Tan, Sales and Project Assistant Director at Concept Systems Technologies. “The system needed to deliver consistent coverage across all event formats while maintaining the elegant aesthetic that defines the St. Regis brand.”

Using Soundvision 3D modelling, Concept Systems created a distributed system built around eight L-Acoustics Soka speakers paired with four Syva Sub subwoofers, all finished in white to blend discreetly with the ballroom’s interior. A third-party distribution platform enables quick preset selection when the space is divided, ensuring straightforward operation for venue staff.

The St. Regis Bar also received an audio upgrade in the form of four L-Acoustics X6i speakers and two SB10i subwoofers, chosen for their compact form factor and ability to deliver warm, full-fidelity sound without intruding on the bar’s refined design.

According to John Tan, both venues benefit from markedly improved sonic performance, including enhanced low-frequency clarity and even coverage. “The L-Acoustics solution we delivered ensures that every guest experience—from intimate bar conversations to grand ballroom celebrations and multimedia presentations—meets the impeccable standards that define the world-renowned St. Regis,” he says.
