d&b Expands Software Capabilities

d&b Audiotechnik has introduced software features that enable sound professionals to audition loudspeaker system designs and prepare immersive Soundscape productions before arriving onsite.

System Auralization generates a real-time binaural rendering of a system’s current configuration, allowing users to move through a virtual venue in first-person mode and listen from different audience positions. This helps assess coverage, imaging and tonal balance through direct listening rather than relying solely on prediction graphs.

Users can hear the immediate impact of changes to loudspeaker positioning, array geometry, amplifier settings, filters and ArrayProcessing configurations, helping refine and validate design decisions before deployment. Audio material can be played against the simulated system in real time, while ArrayCalc’s snapshot recall functionality allows different configurations to be compared without interrupting playback. Meanwhile, vCore is a standalone Soundscape software processing engine available free of charge. Used with d&b Create.Control software and headphones, it enables users to create and experience binaural output, providing access to immersive spatial audio without requiring a physical processing engine.

Integrated into Create.Control v1.4, vCore allows front-of-house engineers and sound designers to prepare Soundscape shows and audition mixes from their preferred digital audio workstation (DAW) in binaural. This enables realistic listening during preproduction without a complete system, well before arriving onsite. Supporting up to 64 inputs, vCore delivers two-channel binaural rendering for headphone monitoring. Its output can also be streamed through applications used for webinars and broadcasts, extending its use to remote listening and content delivery.
