SINGAPORE: Mount Faber Leisure Group has modernised the event capabilities of the Mount Faber Peak Ballroom with the installation of an integrated Martin Professional lighting and JBL Professional audio system, enabling the iconic Singapore venue to support a wider variety of premium events while preserving its distinctive architectural character. The solution was specified and designed by AVL Acoustic Systems Pte Ltd (AVLAS) and supplied by Electronics & Engineering Pte Ltd.

Perched atop one of Singapore’s highest hills, Mount Faber Peak is renowned for its panoramic views of the city skyline, Sentosa Island and the harbour. The ballroom has long served as a destination for weddings, gala dinners, corporate functions and private events, but evolving client expectations prompted Mount Faber Leisure Group to invest in a more versatile technology platform capable of adapting the venue’s ambience to suit different event formats without impacting its clean interior design.

“Our vision was to create a ballroom that could transform as quickly as the events we host. Where light, sound and space move together to create emotion,” said Marc Brandon Hor, Project Consultant, AVLAS.

The upgrade replaced an ageing lighting system that relied on fixed, truss-mounted fixtures, limiting creative flexibility and resulting in similar visual presentations across different events. The installation also presented several challenges, including concealed infrastructure, ceiling load restrictions and a compressed two-week installation schedule within an operational venue.

“Transforming a completed ballroom meant navigating hidden infrastructure, load restrictions and tight schedules,” Marc said. “We needed technology that disappeared into the design yet delivered a truly flexible experience for every event.”

To meet these requirements, AVLAS specified eight Martin Professional ERA 150 Wash fixtures and eight Martin Professional ELP PAR fixtures. Finished in white to blend seamlessly with the ballroom ceiling, the luminaires deliver high output, colour flexibility and programmable lighting that can transition from subtle ambient illumination for wedding receptions to dynamic looks for product launches, gala dinners and live entertainment while remaining visually unobtrusive when not in use.

The venue’s new sound reinforcement system comprises 18 JBL Professional Control 47C/T ceiling loudspeakers and six JBL Professional Control 19CST ceiling subwoofers, providing consistent coverage throughout the ballroom while maintaining the venue’s minimalist aesthetic. The system is designed to support speeches, background music, live entertainment and multimedia presentations with even, high-quality audio across the space.

With just two weeks allocated for the retrofit, close coordination between AVLAS, Electronics & Engineering and HARMAN Professional Solutions proved instrumental in delivering the project on schedule.
