NDONESIA: L-Acoustics has been selected as the audio solution for Ultra Super Club, a new 1,000-capacity nightlife venue in Makassar, Indonesia, where an A Series-based sound system has been deployed to support both live performances and high-energy EDM events.

Opened in December 2025 on Makassar’s Tanjung Bunga waterfront, Ultra Super Club was conceived as a dual-purpose entertainment venue, requiring an audio system capable of delivering articulate full-range sound for live acts alongside the powerful low-frequency performance expected for contemporary electronic music events.

The installation was designed and validated by PT Gracia Auvindo, L-Acoustics’ Certified Partner for Indonesia, with physical integration undertaken by systems integrator Thomas Rulyanto. L-Acoustics Application Engineer Jufri Price provided technical support throughout the design and implementation process.

According to Gracia Auvindo, the venue’s management evaluated several premium sound systems before selecting L-Acoustics, including site visits to existing installations. The decision was ultimately influenced by the performance of the L-Acoustics K2 system previously installed at Jakarta nightclub NOYA X 80 PROOF, another Gracia Auvindo project.

Designed around the venue’s 23 x 26-metre main dancefloor with a 12-metre ceiling height, the system utilises L-Acoustics A15i loudspeakers to provide long-throw coverage while delivering the low-frequency performance required for the club’s programming. “In Indonesia, audiences love a strong low-frequency response,” explained Hendra Halim, Application Director at Gracia Auvindo. “We knew the A15 would give them the impact they come for.”

One of the primary technical challenges involved accommodating the venue’s existing ceiling structure, which required all loudspeaker arrays to be suspended from fixed steel beams. The system was modelled extensively using L-Acoustics Soundvision software, allowing the installation team to evaluate on-site positioning adjustments against the original design while maintaining the intended coverage and performance.

The main system comprises two hangs of four A15i loudspeakers; each consisting of three A15i Focus and one A15i Wide enclosure; powered by three LA4X amplified controllers. Low-frequency reinforcement is provided by eight KS28 subwoofers driven by two LA12X amplified controllers, while two X12 loudspeakers serve as out-fills and four X8 enclosures provide front-fill coverage. Signal routing is handled directly through the amplified controllers, with processing performed by the integrated DSP within the LA4X and LA12X platforms.

The project was completed over a three to four-month period, with a soft launch taking place in November 2025 ahead of the venue’s official opening in December. Since then, the system has been in daily operation supporting the club’s programme of live performances and DJ events.

Reflecting on the project, Halim said: “Ultra Super Club wanted a system that could handle live performance and EDM equally well, in the same room, night after night. Getting that right comes down to precise specification, thorough modelling, world-class products and an excellent team. That’s what we had on this project.”
