Brompton Powers Monumental LED Debut for Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo’s 75th Anniversary Tour Knowledge Hub Latest Live News by Elton - April 30, 2026April 30, 2026 NEW ZEALAND: When the world-renowned Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo took its spectacular 75th-anniversary production, The Heroes Who Made Us, on a rare international tour across Australia and New Zealand, it wasn’t just the scale of performance that made history; it was also the first time the organisation embraced LED screens of this magnitude. At the heart of that landmark visual transformation was Brompton Technology, whose Tessera LED processing platform delivered flawless performance across two massive stadium productions. Staged at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium from 12–15 February and Auckland’s Eden Park from 19–21 February 2026, the anniversary tour featured more than 1,100 international and local performers in a breathtaking celebration of military pageantry, music, dance, and cultural performance. Powering the immense LED infrastructure was a Tessera SX40 4K LED Processor paired with the Tessera XD 10G data distribution system, deployed with full redundancy by Creative Technology Australia & New Zealand. The scale of the LED installation was nothing short of extraordinary. In Brisbane, the upstage main wall measured 50 metres by 22 metres, with a 32-metre by 4-metre central cutout, creating a total LED canvas of 875 square metres using ROE Visual V6ST panels. Downstage, an additional wall measuring approximately 40.2 metres by 9.6 metres—around 250 square metres in its final configuration—was constructed using CB5 in T4 frames. Auckland featured a slightly smaller but equally impactful setup, with ROE MC7 forming the upstage screen and ROE CB5 deployed for the downstage wall. Together, the installations created an immersive visual environment worthy of the Tattoo’s landmark anniversary celebrations. The choice of LED products was driven by both technical familiarity and practical demands of the outdoor stadium environment. Factors such as product availability, panel weight, integrated wind bracing, and modular design that enabled real-time servicing all contributed to the final configuration. With each installation needing to be completed in just two days, deployment speed was absolutely critical. One of the most technically demanding aspects of the production was the use of in-screen imaging, which required the entire system to be fully Genlocked end-to-end with minimal latency—a capability delivered as standard by the Tessera SX40. Brompton’s OSCA and DynaCal features also played a key role, ensuring a seamless large-format canvas and precise colour consistency across the multiple LED panel types used across both venues. Reliability, however, proved to be the defining factor. Throughout rehearsals and every live performance, rain persisted relentlessly across both locations. Despite the challenging weather conditions, the LED system delivered without a single failure. “Working on a show of this scale and significance, and in these conditions, demands absolute confidence in your technology,” says Jeremy Moore, Head of Displays at Creative Technology Australia & New Zealand. “The Brompton system gave us exactly that. We had two days to build these monster walls, and the speed and reliability of the Brompton processing was central to making it happen. The end client, REMT, was using screens at this scale for the very first time, and they were genuinely blown away by the performance. To not have a single issue through all that rain is a testament to just how robust the system and Creative Technology’s processes are.” The Brisbane and Auckland run of The Heroes Who Made Us brought together performers from Norway, Japan, Tonga, and Australia, alongside massed pipes and drums, military bands, the Top Secret Drum Corps, and cultural dancers—creating a truly global celebration of the Tattoo’s 75th year. Audience demand was equally impressive, with many performances selling out completely. “The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is one of the most iconic live events in the world, so to see it embrace LED screens at this scale for the very first time, and to have Brompton at the centre of that, is genuinely exciting,” concludes Sebastian Kanabar, Head of Sales (APAC) at Brompton Technology. “The conditions were challenging, the timelines were tight, and the system didn’t miss a beat. That’s what we build for.” Share on Facebook Share Share on TwitterTweet Share on Pinterest Share Share on LinkedIn Share Share on Digg Share
