Ayrton Rewrites the Beam Playbook with Rawbeam 350 and a Trio of Next-Gen Previews

Ayrton turned heads with the unveiling of Rawbeam 350, a laser-sourced, ultra-compact fixture designed to emulate the punch and character of a traditional discharge-style beam while delivering the efficiency and performance advantages of a laser source. Flat in profile and sharing the same footprint and dimensions as Stradale, Rawbeam 350 delivers a formidable 1,200,000 lux at 10m through a 160 mm front lens and a proprietary 13-lens optical system that offers a 35x zoom ratio with a working range from 1.2° to 42°. Central to its design is an entirely linear zoom system that travels seamlessly across the full range without switching between beam and spot modes, ensuring consistency, efficiency and uniformity even at wider angles that are traditionally harder to achieve.

Positioned within Ayrton’s Ultimate Series, Rawbeam 350 carries forward the platform’s emphasis on miniaturisation, colour control, effects and movement, including continuous pan and tilt, while incorporating a comprehensive set of graphic tools aimed at delivering razor-sharp visual effects across a broad spectrum of applications. The fixture includes CMY and CTO colour mixing, a fixed colour wheel with 15 colours, two multicolours and two minus green filters, two gobo wheels carrying 12 and 31 metal gobos respectively, light and heavy frosts, an animation wheel, and two combinable and indexable three-way prisms. Like every Ayrton luminaire introduced since 2023, Rawbeam 350 is IP65 rated, engineered for both indoor and outdoor use including saline environments, and remains fully accessible despite its compact form, weighing just 24.5 kg. Fully engineered from the ground up, its size, output and versatility position it as a potential workhorse fixture across applications ranging from EDM stages to television studios.

Reflecting on the reaction to the fixture, Marc Lorenz, Ayrton’s Designer Relationship Manager, notes, “Visitors were amazed at the compact size of Rawbeam 350 which remains packed with all the features and capabilities of its fellows in the Ultimate Series, yet demonstrates all the abilities of a traditional discharge fixture from a powerful laser source.” Rawbeam 350 is slated to be available from this spring.

Alongside Rawbeam 350, Ayrton also previewed three forthcoming luminaires that further underline the brand’s current design direction. Nando 1202 Wash, part of the Nando family, adopts a minimalist design philosophy and is purpose-built for hybrid indoor and outdoor use. It is equipped with 28 high-performance 42W RGB-L LEDs delivering a luminous flux of 25,000lm, with additive colour mixing that produces evenly blended pastels and saturated colours with consistent output and a CRI exceeding 86. Designed to shift effortlessly from Beam to Wash, Nando 1202 offers a 15:1 zoom ratio with an operating range from a tight 3.5° beam to a wide 53° spread.

MagicBlade Neo, part of the Dot Neo family, introduces a new approach to linear and modular light effects. Built on the platform of the MagicDot Neo, it features five independently moving heads spaced just 3 mm apart, each with continuous pan and tilt rotation. Each head is driven by a 120W RGB-L multi-chip LED source paired with a high-efficiency 100 mm optic, delivering a 10:1 zoom ratio from 3° to 30° and enabling smooth transitions from Beam to Wash. Each lens incorporates a high-definition LiquidEffect on its periphery, opening up the creation of complex and intricate graphic effects within reconfigurable curtains of light.

Completing the preview lineup is Naja, a weatherproof, laser-sourced fixture that continues Ayrton’s exploration of high-intensity performance in compact formats. Naja delivers 1,840,000 lux at 10m through a 200 mm lens and a 35x zoom ratio ranging from 0.6° to 21°, maintaining uniformity across the beam. Its colour system employs high-speed CMY mixing via rotating discs, while a dual-wheel gobo configuration houses a total of 92 metal gobos, fixed and rotating, designed for advanced beam shaping. These can be combined with two layers of three rotating prism effects to generate complex, image-multiplying visuals. IP65 rated and equipped with continuous pan and tilt, Naja weighs 31.5 kg and adopts the same form factor as Rivale. Nando 1202 Wash, MagicBlade Neo and Naja are all scheduled for release later this year, rounding out a showcase that signals Ayrton’s intent to push compact form factors, laser and LED efficiency, and optical versatility even further.
