HONG KONG: When the MAMA Awards returned to Hong Kong in November for the first time in seven years, the stakes could hardly have been higher. One of Asia’s most influential music awards ceremonies — and a global showcase for K-pop’s ever-expanding cultural reach — the 27th edition of the MAMA Awards transformed the new Kai Tak Stadium into a high-impact production environment across two sold-out nights, welcoming more than 50,000 international fans. Supporting the event’s ambitious visual demands was Analog Way, which deployed its Aquilon RS6 multi-screen presentation system alongside the RC400T controller to drive the show’s main stage LED displays.

Presented annually by Korean entertainment giant CJ ENM, the MAMA Awards are widely regarded as the premier K-pop event of the year, combining large-scale staging, cutting-edge production design and performances by leading international artists. For the production team at LDS, the visual complexity of the event required a video processing platform capable of absolute stability, high-performance multi-4K handling and the flexibility to respond to last-minute creative changes. The Aquilon RS6 was selected as the primary video presentation processor to meet these demands.

At the core of the Aquilon RS6’s appeal for an event of this scale is its ability to support highly complex screen operations through advanced multi-4K processing. A single unit can handle up to 24 native 4K outputs, while configurations linking four units can scale to as many as 80 4K outputs, offering exceptional flexibility for mega-events with expansive LED canvases. Its ultra-high-resolution architecture enables four 8K displays to be combined into a seamless, unified output, while support for a wide range of colour spaces ensures optimised image quality across demanding live environments.

Throughout the 2025 MAMA Awards, the Aquilon RS6 delivered consistent, high-performance results, executing intricate visual tasks with precision and stability across installation, rehearsals and both show days. The system proved particularly effective in accommodating last-minute updates from CJ ENM, a common reality in live broadcast productions of this scale. LDS operators reported strong satisfaction with the system’s power, reliability and seamless workflow under show conditions.

Supporting the deployment was Jeremy Kim, Technical Support Engineer at Analog Way Korea, who provided continuous assistance to LDS throughout the year. His involvement included product training, on-site support and troubleshooting across multiple major events, ensuring full operational readiness for the MAMA Awards. Equipment rental and local support for the Hong Kong show were provided by ITP Hong Kong.
