GLOBAL: Messe Frankfurt has announced that Prolight + Sound will cease to be held in Frankfurt, following an extensive review of how the event could be integrated into Light + Building 2026. After weeks of consultation, the organiser concluded that there is insufficient demand to justify a dedicated Prolight + Sound themed area within the show, making it impossible to deliver the standards of value and experience expected by exhibitors and visitors.

A number of exhibitors initially approached for the themed area have already opted to showcase their technologies within the core Light + Building product zones instead, enabling them to connect directly with architecture and lighting design practices, as well as professionals in building technology, electrical installation and facility management.

While the Frankfurt edition will come to an end, Messe Frankfurt stresses that Prolight + Sound remains a key pillar of its global portfolio. The brand continues to expand internationally, led by the rapidly growing Prolight + Sound Guangzhou—which recently hosted more than 2,200 exhibitors and 110,000 visitors—and the newly announced Prolight + Sound Bangkok, set to debut in 2026.

Messe Frankfurt expressed its gratitude to industry partners for their long-standing support and emphasised its hope to welcome the community to its forthcoming international Prolight + Sound events.
