CODA Audio Redefines Cardioid Performance with WIDE BAND Cardioid and ViFORCE Ennovations Knowledge Hub Latest by Elton - February 4, 2026 CODA Audio has has announced a major step forward in cardioid array performance with the launch of WIDE BAND Cardioid technology, debuting in the new ViFORCE line array element and its slimline partner subwoofer, SUB FORCE 35. Developed through an intensive period of R&D, this Patent Pending approach represents a fundamental shift in how pattern control and sonic integrity are achieved in single-box cardioid systems. While CODA Audio array elements have supported cardioid configurations since the introduction of ViRAY in 2012, ViFORCE and SUB FORCE 35 introduce a new level of control by combining wideband cardioid behaviour with exceptional linear phase response in a compact, single-enclosure solution. The result is a system designed to address long-standing limitations of conventional one-box cardioid designs, which often struggle with restricted low-frequency extension, narrow-band cancellation, compromised phase response and reduced rear rejection at high SPL. WIDE BAND Cardioid has been engineered to overcome these constraints without compromising the audience experience, delivering consistent performance across a wide range of applications, from 500-capacity theatres through to 10,000-capacity arenas. The technology operates in two selectable modes, allowing system designers to prioritise either output or rejection depending on the production requirements. In Maximum SPL mode, a controlled reduction in rear cancellation delivers maximum energy to the audience, making it well suited to arrays flown further from the stage or DJ-led performances. In Maximum Rejection mode, up to 90% of the SPL at the rear of the array is cancelled, an approach tailored for orchestral productions, choral performances or environments with multiple open microphones where stage spill must be tightly controlled. ViFORCE itself is a 4-way, bi-amplified line array element, configured with 2 x 8” LF drivers, 2 x side-mounted 6.5” drivers and CODA’s DDP Mid & High frequency driver. The enclosure incorporates CODA Audio’s established patented technologies, including Dynamic Airflow Cooling (DAC) technology to eliminate power compression, InstaFit couplers that allow rapid switching between 90°, 120° or 105° asymmetric horizontal dispersion, and the company’s well-known fast and straightforward rigging system. SUB FORCE 35 applies the same design philosophy to low-frequency reproduction. This slimline 3 x 15” cardioid subwoofer delivers level and frequency response comparable to a conventional 2 x 18” design. Its implementation of WIDE BAND Cardioid allows the subwoofer to be placed directly against a wall without muting the rear driver, which continues to contribute to overall system output through side-mounted ports, preserving full performance while maintaining effective rear rejection. CODA Audio will officially launch ViFORCE and SUB FORCE 35 on the first day of this year’s ISE show in Barcelona, where visitors can engage directly with CODA Audio staff at Booth 7A100 and experience the system in dedicated demonstrations within the company’s demo room.
