Last week I was in Manila, Philippines and many of the rental and staging companies were busy with the 31st ASEAN SUMMIT and other related events. One of the busiest was Stagecraft, who were responsible for a number of venues' AV set-up. In my meetings with a few of the players it also came to light that a number of installs were caught unaware of the blocked radio frequencies that would affect their wireless microphones. This came into effect recently but to be fair, all were warned years ago of the government's decision to no longer authorise the operating of wireless transmitters between the 698 to 806 Mhz range. This has obviously put a number of installs in a quandary. I understand that AVSC and Stagecraft, the authorised Sennheiser distributors in the Philippines will be introducing a plan together with Sennheiser to allow for trade-in with a discount for new systems that offer a different bandwidth.
